An Important Announcement From James Campbell
With the pandemic situation that faces us worldwide, we have all been aware that social distancing measures in Ontario may impact our ability to present the 2020 Festival. The safety of our patrons, artists, volunteers and staff has always been top of mind for us. We fully support measures that keep us safe.
And so, we must today announce that the inevitable has happened. We’ve learned that the performance hall at the Stockey Centre will be closed for the summer. This year the Festival of the Sound will be silent. Silent, but not quiet!!!
The board and staff of the Festival are viewing this as a sabbatical. After 40 years it somehow seems logical that we may need a sabbatical, even if it’s a forced one.
A sabbatical will give us time to reflect, refresh, and explore. I want you to know that we are planning new ways to reach out to you and have classical music stay an important part of your life.
Please stay in touch with us by Social media – you will see that we are certainly not going into hibernation. I am excited about the opportunity this gives us to establish a solid groundwork for a future which with your help, will be artistically rich.
Thank you for your loyalty and support, I can’t wait until we can all meet again in our beloved Stockey Centre.
Jim
