Music has always had a significant place in Mandy’s life: her mother was a piano teacher, organist, and choir director and she grew up learning to play the piano and singing in church choirs. She studied music at Mohawk College and obtained her BA in music from McMaster University. In 1990, Mandy moved from Hamilton to Toronto and formed the band ORIGINS in order to play songs of Joni Mitchell’s as well as her own writing. Since 2002 she has released many CDs, the most recent being “The Joni Book”, a collection of Joni Mitchell songs that she has creatively and imaginatively arranged. Mandy has been performing around Ontario at various venues and festivals, working with some of Canada’s finest jazz artists.
