The Music Never Stops: May 14, 2020

Edvard Grieg was a leading composer of the Romantic Era and a forerunner of nationalism in music. His use and development of Norwegian folk music in his own compositions brought the music of Norway to international consciousness, as well as helping to develop a national identity (similar to Jean Sibelius in Finland and Bedřich Smetana in Bohemia). One of his most well-known compositions is the “Peer Gynt Suite” (who knows it? 🙂 ). Today Leopoldo shares with us Grieg’s “Arietta, Op. 12 No. 1”.
