David Bourque
DAVID BOURQUE played clarinet and bass clarinet with the Toronto Symphony from
1983 to 2011. He played with the National Ballet, Canadian Opera Company, the
Stratford Festival, National Arts Centre Orchestra and l' Orchestre Symphonique de
Montréal. Mr. Bourque performed at the Elora and Guelph festivals and was a regular
performer at the Festival of the Sound and the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival. He has
played in many film and TV scores including Moonstruck and Road to Avonlea,
Since participating on the premiere recording of the Barenreiter edition of the Serenade
in B Flat Gran Partita K 361 with Jim Campbell in 1981, David has played the Serenade
dozens of times. He edited first editions of Mozart’s wind octets (K. Anh. C) and
recorded them for CBC Records with the Festival Winds. Mr. Bourque was a professor
of music at Mount Allison University, University of Prince Edward Island and a guest
instructor at Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University from 2004-2012. He has taught
at the University of Toronto since the 1980’s.
Since his TSO retirement, his pastimes have been woodworking and golfing. David is a
native of Toronto.
