William Carn
Most recently, he won a 2020 Juno award for Best Jazz Group for his work in the ensemble Turboprop. Other nominations include a Down Beat Magazine Rising Star award in 2015 as well as Juno nominations for "best traditional jazz recording" for his debut CD, Other Stories and most recently, for his work with co-leader, saxophonist Tara Davidson and the Carn Davidson NINE. CD9 is set to release their fourth studio recording entitled, Reverence. This album is dedicated and inspired by some of the leaders' favourite master musicians including Joshua Redman, Hermeto Pascoal, Christine Jensen and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
As a bandleader, William currently leads several groups; The jazz chamber nonet, the Carn Davidson NINE, whom he co-leads with saxophonist Tara davidson. His latest project is CHOICES, a group that combines analog and digital aspects of music making.
