Ken MacDonald has served as associate principal horn with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra since 2001. He has also appeared as first horn with the Hamilton Philharmonic, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, and Symphony Nova Scotia. As a member of Octagon Chamber Ensemble, he has appeared at most of Canada’s major chamber music series. Ken is originally from Vancouver and attended the University of British Columbia where he studied with Martin Hackleman. He is on faculty at the University of Manitoba where he teaches horn and chamber music. Ken is enthusiastic about the WSO’s extensive outreach activities. He has traveled to remote communities and reserves throughout Manitoba as a teaching artist in the Music Alive Program, a joint venture between the WSO and the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
